Chapter-6 Introduction to Network & Internet

The Internet, the World Wide Web (WWW), and web browsers are interconnected technologies that have revolutionized the way we access and share information online. Let's start with a brief introduction to each of these concepts:

1. Internet: The Internet is a global network of interconnected computers and devices that enables the exchange of information and communication across the world. It provides a vast infrastructure for various online services, such as email, web browsing, file sharing, and more. The Internet is made up of a collection of networks, including public, private, academic, and government networks, all interconnected through standardized protocols.

2. World Wide Web (WWW): The World Wide Web, often referred to as the Web, is an information system that operates over the Internet. It is a collection of interconnected documents and resources, such as web pages, images, videos, and other multimedia content. The Web utilizes the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) to allow users to access and navigate between these resources using hyperlinks.

3. Web Browsers: Web browsers are software applications that allow users to access and view content on the World Wide Web. They provide a graphical interface for users to interact with websites, web applications, and other online resources. Browsers interpret and render HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) documents, the primary language used for creating web pages, and display them in a user-friendly format. Popular web browsers include Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.

When a user enters a website's address (URL) into a web browser, it sends a request to the web server hosting the website. The server responds by sending back the requested web page, which the browser then renders and displays to the user. Web browsers also support various features like bookmarking, tabbed browsing, and extensions, providing a customizable and convenient browsing experience.

The Internet, the World Wide Web, and web browsers have transformed the way we access information, conduct business, communicate, and entertain ourselves in the digital age. They have become essential tools for individuals, businesses, and organizations worldwide, shaping the modern era of connectivity and information sharing.
